I’ve been adding small touches around my space lately, and it’s funny how much joy they bring.

Red Paper Calligraphy
The first are the bright red diamond-shaped papers with the character 福 (fú), which means “good fortune” or “blessing.” They’re usually put up during Lunar New Year, sometimes even upside down, to symbolize that good luck has “arrived.” I love how bold the black brushstrokes look against the red, with tiny gold flecks catching the light—it feels festive and powerful even in a simple corner of the house.

Little Magnets of Words
Then there’s my little lineup of magnets on the wall: 和 (peace), 樂 (happiness), 財 (wealth), 旺 (prosperity). Together they feel like a small mantra for life—peaceful days, joyful moments, enough money to be comfortable, and the energy to keep moving forward.
Why It Makes Me Happy
It’s nothing grand, but having these calligraphy signs and toy figures side by side reminds me that luck and joy are found in small things. A few brushstrokes on red paper, a couple magnets with big words, and a lineup of toys—it all adds up to a cozy, happy corner.
